A Faculty Empowerment Session was organized by Dr. Ravindran, President, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), patent filing, design registration, technology transfer, and commercialization on 24.06.2026 at 09AM. The session highlighted the importance of protecting intellectual property in academia and research. Dr. Ravindran explained the patent filing process, including idea generation, drafting, filing, examination, and grant, and clarified the difference between utility and design patents. He also discussed the process of design registration with examples. The session further emphasized how research outcomes can be transformed into marketable products and services through licensing, industry collaboration, and innovation-driven initiatives. Faculty members gained practical insights into patent protection strategies, intellectual property management, and the commercialization of research innovations. The interactive session was informative and beneficial for strengthening awareness of innovation, protection, and technology transfer in higher education.
